The Highway Team Game: Joining Bridges Into One Giant Motorway
How the Highway team game works: building bridges to spec, aligning with other teams, the merged motorway, plus timing and group size, step by step.

The Highway team game is a team activity where each team builds its own bridge for remote-controlled cars to a specification set in advance, after which all the bridges are joined into one giant motorway. In the finale, every car must cross that motorway safely.
The video shows Highway set up in a hotel ballroom. Teams measure wooden sticks and mark cardboard sheets at the tables, and support their bridge sections with braces on the floor. In the finale, the sections, decorated with lane markings, edge tape and balloons, line up side by side to become a motorway running the length of the room.
How is the Highway game played?
- Specification: each team receives a technical spec covering its bridge's dimensions, gradient and connection points.
- Planning: design, measuring, building and quality-control roles are shared within the team.
- Build: a bridge section is made from cardboard, wooden sticks and tape and reinforced with braces.
- Alignment: connection points and heights are compared with neighbouring teams.
- Merge: all the bridges are joined end to end into one motorway.
- Final run: the remote-controlled cars are driven from one end of the motorway to the other.

What does Highway add to teamwork?
Highway is inspired by factory production lines and is an enjoyable rehearsal of the hand-over points between departments. Perfecting your own bridge is not enough; you have to meet the spec, align with neighbouring teams and keep the big picture in view. A few centimetres of error by one team affects every car's crossing. As a result, communication between teams grows naturally throughout the game, and success in the finale belongs to the whole room rather than a single team.

At the end of the game we hold a short debrief: which connection point was hardest, which team talked to its neighbour early, how did each team interpret the spec? These questions link what happened in the room directly to work processes and hand-overs between departments.
How many people, and how long does it take?
Highway runs in teams of 5 to 15, up to 30 teams, and the standard version lasts 120 to 180 minutes. It can be set up indoors, such as in a hotel ballroom, or outdoors; we provide the materials and the remote-controlled cars. Cost depends on the number of teams, duration, city, venue setup conditions and any request for brand-specific design.
