What Is a Greenbox? AI Greenbox Photos Without a Green Screen
What is a greenbox and how does it work? Classic green screen versus AI greenbox, event setup, branded backgrounds and the factors that drive the cost.

A greenbox is a photo technique that shoots a person in front of a plain green screen, removes the green with software and places any image behind them; in film it is called chroma key. An AI greenbox delivers the same result without a green screen: the job of separating the person from the background is handed to AI instead of colour.
The first thing you notice in the video is that there is no green screen. Guests pose in an office building lobby, on a red carpet and in front of a light panel. Because this setup leaves the venue's architecture untouched, it is a big advantage in tight or elegant spaces such as lobbies, foyers and trade show stands.
How does greenbox technology work?
- Shooting: the guest poses at a set spot; the classic greenbox has a green screen behind, the AI version has the venue itself.
- Separation: the classic system deletes green pixels, while the AI system recognises the person's silhouette down to strands of hair and clothing detail and separates it from the background.
- Placement: the guest is placed into a prepared scene, a magazine cover or a branded template.
- Delivery: the result appears on screen within seconds and is printed or sent digitally by QR code and email.

Classic green screen or AI greenbox?
A classic green screen gives the cleanest cut under controlled light and is still very strong for large group shots, but it needs dedicated space for the backdrop, stands and lighting. An AI greenbox takes up less room, keeps the venue's look intact and shoots guests without lining them up in front of a backdrop. We decide together which one fits by looking at the space, the light and the expected number of guests. For the classic setup see GreenBox; for the version that creates avatars and style filters from facial analysis see AI Photo Booth.
How is a greenbox used at corporate events?
- At launches, placing the product or campaign visual in the background to put guests inside the campaign.
- At anniversaries and galas, using a brand-specific magazine cover or poster template.
- At trade shows, giving stand visitors a branded, shareable photo.
- For corporate portraits, shooting the team with the same background and light for consistent images.

What affects the price of a greenbox?
The price depends on event duration, expected number of guests, city and venue, setup type (classic backdrop or AI), number and format of prints, digital sharing infrastructure, and the design of branded backgrounds and templates.
