Leadership Games: How the Leaders of the Future Event Works
How leadership games turn company values into play: the flow of the Leaders of the Future event, design tips and how it differs from leadership training.

Leadership games are gamified team events in which groups experience decision-making, taking responsibility, communication and guiding one another inside a storyline. What a leadership training explains, the game lets participants live through; the lesson comes from the field, not the classroom.
Leaders of the Future is a programme we built on this approach. Teams overcome obstacles woven from company values, and at the finale the curtain lifts to reveal giant mirrors: the leader they were looking for was inside them all along. The video shows the edition we created for the MOVA team.
How does the Leaders of the Future event work?
- Opening and teams: participants split into teams and each team builds an identity. The video's first frame catches a team singing its chant together in the hall.
- Value stations: each company value becomes a task. Teams move from station to station outdoors, read their task cards and plan a strategy together.
- Stage finale: all teams meet in the main hall, and the journey comes together on stage in front of a giant screen dressed with the event artwork.
- The mirror moment: when the curtain lifts, teams see themselves in giant mirrors. The message is delivered not by a speech but by an image that sticks.

How do you design a good leadership game?
- Start from real values: build tasks around the company's own values and agenda instead of abstract concepts.
- Rotate leadership: having a different person guide the team in each task invites quieter members to take responsibility too.
- Do not make winning the only measure: score collaboration, fair task sharing and creativity as well as time.
- Close with a symbol: a strong final image like the mirror helps the message stay with people days later.
- End with reflection: a short debrief after the game links the experience to everyday work.

What is the difference between leadership training and a leadership game?
Leadership training usually walks through concepts, models and case studies with a trainer, and certified programmes can run for weeks. A leadership game does not replace training; it complements it, giving the team a shared experience in a single day and making the concepts discussed in training visible in the field. That is why we often place Leaders of the Future inside a management meeting, a kick-off or a development programme.
How many people, and how long does it take?
Leaders of the Future is designed for groups of 20 to 500 as a 60 to 180 minute programme. The cost depends on headcount, duration, city and venue, how much of the content is custom-built for your company, and stage and technical needs. If you see the leadership game as part of a wider teamwork strategy, our team building guide is a good place to start.
