Launching with a Hologram Display: A Guide to Life-Size 3D Presentations

What a hologram display is and how to use it at a launch: life-size hologram presenters, product reveals and hologram ad ideas, with content production tips.

A hologram display is a vertical imaging system that shows a person or product as if it were standing three-dimensionally in a black void. At launches it is used to bring a presenter, a product or a brand ambassador onto the stage at life size.

The video shows sample content played on our human-height hologram display: a presenter in a red jacket speaking, a presenter in a white suit waving to welcome guests, and a layered water fountain animation. All of it floats on the same screen against a dark background.

Presenter, product or animation: content that floats on one screen.

What is a hologram display and how is it different from a normal screen?

A flat LED screen shows content inside a frame, and guests read it like a television. On a hologram display the black area disappears and only the figure remains, so the presenter or product seems to actually stand in the room. The difference is less about technology than perception: the room looks at the stage instead of down at its phones.

Transparent hologram screens and LED hologram fans create a similar effect; which one fits depends on the content size and viewing distance. For foyer and conference set-ups, see our guide to holograms at events.

How can you use a hologram display at a launch? 6 ideas

  1. Hologram presenter: the CEO or brand face is filmed in advance and delivers the launch's opening speech as a life-size hologram.
  2. Product reveal: a product that is not ready yet, or cannot be brought on stage, rotates in 3D with details shown in close-up.
  3. Welcome ambassador: a presenter waves at the entrance and introduces the programme as guests arrive.
  4. Countdown and curtain-up: the launch moment opens with a hologram animation synced with stage lighting.
  5. Hologram ad spot: at store openings or trade show booths, a product animation loops all day.
  6. Water and light effects: abstract animations like the fountain in the video create transitions and atmosphere between talks.

How is hologram content produced?

  • Shoot on a dark backdrop: the presenter is filmed against black or green in a vertical frame matching the display ratio.
  • Life-size framing: camera height and framing are set so the person appears at real height on screen.
  • Short, clear script: the shorter and clearer the speech, the longer attention holds; put the key message in the first lines.
  • Contrasting clothing and light: black or very dark clothing blends into the background, which is why the white and red outfits in the video read so clearly.
  • Brand fit: logo, colours and typography follow your corporate identity.
