What Is a Logo Canvas Activity? A Guide to Team Canvas Art

How a logo painting activity works, what materials it uses and what it gives teams: a step-by-step guide to the giant company canvas built from pieces.

A logo painting activity is a team event in which each team paints a separate piece of a picture on its own canvas, and at the finale the pieces come together to form the company logo or a corporate visual. Every team seems to be painting its own picture, but no canvas means anything on its own.

Our Logo Canvas format scales from 20 to 500 participants and takes 120 to 150 minutes; the finished giant canvas is handed over to the company after the event. Below we explain how the activity flows step by step, what materials it uses and what it gives teams.

How does a logo painting activity work?

  1. Preparation: the logo or chosen corporate visual is split into pieces according to the number of teams; each team gets a canvas with the outlines of its piece already prepared.
  2. Briefing: the facilitator explains the activity on screen, teams go to their tables and put on aprons and gloves.
  3. Painting: each team works on its own canvas. To match colors, tones and edges with the neighboring pieces, teams have to keep talking to each other.
  4. Collection: finished canvases are collected face down; nobody sees the big picture yet.
  5. Finale: the pieces are joined and it becomes clear that the separate work of each team forms the company logo. The activity closes with a group photo.

What materials does a logo painting activity use?

In the session shown in the video, each table had a canvas with prepared outlines, brushes, paints portioned into cups and masking tape to protect the edges. Participants wore aprons and gloves to protect their clothes. All materials are brought and set up by our crew; the company only needs to provide a space where the tables fit. Meeting rooms, hotel ballrooms and in-house spaces are ideal.

What does logo painting do for teamwork?

The core message of the activity is the relationship between the part and the whole. Each team is responsible for its own canvas, but success only comes when it fits with the neighboring pieces. It conveys the idea that every department must keep the shared goal in sight while doing its own job, not through a presentation but hands-on, with paint. Collaboration, not competition, wins.

No painting skills are needed; the goal is not artistic perfection but seeing the pieces form the big picture together, and facilitators guide every team. The moment of assembly at the finale is usually the most photographed moment of the day: everyone looks for their own piece within the whole.

What does the company keep after the activity?

After the event the assembled canvas is handed over to the company and becomes a permanent artwork that can hang in the office, a meeting room or the canteen. The event does not end with the day: every time the team walks past it, they remember that day and what each piece added to the whole.

What should you keep in mind when planning logo painting?

  • Decide on the visual early: since the logo or corporate visual is split by number of teams, share it once the headcount is clear.
  • Mix the teams: when people from different departments meet at the same canvas, the communication message lands harder.
  • Leave time for the finale: assembling and revealing the picture is the most memorable part of the program, so do not rush it.
  • Think ahead about where it will hang: knowing its place in the office makes choosing the visual and colors easier.

What activities are similar to logo painting?

  • Mosaic Mural: thousands of tiny mosaic tiles, merged from small groups to large ones, become a giant artwork of 1 to 24 square metres; it runs with 10 to 10,000 people.
  • Unity Handprint Canvas: employees' handprints and messages meet the logo on a giant canvas; it takes 15 to 30 minutes and fits into a meeting break.
  • Logomagnet: everyone paints their own small picture and the magnet pieces combine into the brand's big picture; it scales from 20 to 2000 people.
