How Is a Mosaic Lamp Made? A Corporate Mosaic Lamp Workshop Guide
Mosaic lamp making step by step: the materials you need, how a corporate workshop is structured, group size and duration, and the factors that shape the cost.

A mosaic lamp is a light rooted in Ottoman and Turkish crafts, made by gluing coloured glass pieces and beads onto a glass body in a pattern and filling the gaps with grout. In a corporate mosaic lamp workshop, every participant goes through the whole process and goes home with their own lamp.
The video shows a workshop we ran for an international group in a hotel function room. The English presentation on the screen covers traditional techniques such as glass cutting, geometric patterning, gluing and grouting, while the tables hold lamp bodies, bowls of glass beads sorted by colour and pattern cards.
How is a mosaic lamp made? Step by step
- Choosing the body: a globe or pear-shaped glass body and a metal base are prepared.
- Planning the pattern: participants take inspiration from pattern cards or design their own motif; geometric patterns and star motifs are popular.
- Gluing: adhesive is applied section by section and glass pieces and beads are placed one by one. This is the longest stage and the one that takes the most patience.
- Setting: a short pause lets the pieces settle.
- Grouting: the gaps are filled with grout, the excess is wiped off with a damp cloth and the glass begins to shine.
- Assembly: the body is fitted to the base, the bulb goes in and the lamp is switched on for the first time.

What materials do you need to make a mosaic lamp?
The basics are a glass lamp body, base and electrical fittings, coloured glass mosaic pieces and beads, glass adhesive, grout, gloves and a cleaning cloth. In a corporate workshop all materials arrive ready at the tables; in the video, every table has colour-sorted bowls and pattern cards.
How is a mosaic lamp workshop structured as a company event?
- Open with a short introduction: a few minutes on the history and techniques of mosaic; for international groups this becomes a cultural introduction.
- Mix the tables: seating people from different departments together starts natural conversation as they share materials.
- Keep instructors close: instructors move between tables and give one-to-one help at the gluing and grouting stages.
- Leave time for a finale: lighting all the lamps together creates a shared exhibition and a photo moment.
- Think about transport: packaging is planned in advance so the lamps get home safely.

We described a day where we combined mosaic lamps and T-shirt painting for the Halkbank team in this post.
How many people, how long, and what affects the cost?
The Mosaic Lamp Workshop is a 60 to 120 minute programme for groups of 10 to 100. The cost depends on headcount, the size and type of lamp body, city and venue, the number of instructors and extras such as packaging or branded boxes. We set it up in hotel function rooms, offices or meeting venues.
