Photo Rally Istanbul: A Photo Game for International Groups

What a photo rally is and how international groups and congress delegates play it in Istanbul: route, task ideas, duration, group size and planning tips.

A photo rally is a city game in which teams move around town completing photo tasks within a set time, and a jury rewards the most creative shots. For international groups visiting Istanbul for a congress or meeting, it can replace the classic guided tour: they see the city, but as players rather than spectators.

A Photo Rally day: from the congress hall to Sultanahmet, then on to dinner.

What is a photo rally and how is it played?

In our Photo Rally, each team receives a set of postcard-style photographs taken in advance. The task is to find those scenes and reshoot them with their own cameras and their own interpretation. Guides, maps and all necessary equipment are provided. At the finale the jury picks the best shots, and the photos are printed and given to guests as gifts.

  1. Briefing: rules, time limit and meeting point are explained in the participants' language.
  2. Teams and task cards: each team gets its photo set, map and route.
  3. Playing in the city: teams find the scenes, set up their poses and shoot together.
  4. Submission: photos are collected at the agreed time.
  5. Finale: jury review and awards, often combined with dinner.

Why is it a good choice for international groups?

The group in the video spends the day in sessions in a hotel congress hall, then moves on to Sultanahmet Square. Players looking for the right frame in front of the Obelisk, teams posing with the Blue Mosque behind them, and the same group celebrating together in a restaurant at the end of the day all appear in one continuous flow.

  • No language barrier: tasks are visual, so the briefing and cards are prepared in English and the game works the same for everyone.
  • A lot to see in little time: the historic peninsula offers a dense route within walking distance.
  • A lasting memento: guests fly home with printed photos they took themselves.
  • Flexible length: planned for 60 to 180 minutes, it fits into a congress afternoon.

Where can you do a photo rally in Istanbul?

Sultanahmet, the Grand Bazaar, Beyoğlu and the area around Topkapı Palace are the districts we design most often. With a prior site visit, a hotel garden, a campus or an indoor venue can also become the playing field. If you are looking for a clue-solving game in the same district, see our Sultanahmet Treasure Hunt event. Cost depends on headcount, duration, route and district, number of guides, print quantity and brand personalisation.
