AI Video Making Workshop: Produce a Short Film as a Team

How an AI video making workshop works: the flow from script and prompts to editing and screening, how long it takes and what shapes the budget.

An AI film workshop is a corporate event in which teams use AI tools to write a script and generate scene visuals, video clips, voice-over and music, producing their own short film within a few hours. No camera, acting or editing experience is needed; the real work is finding the idea and describing it well to the AI.

In the video below you can see teams working at laptops in a meeting room during the day and, in the evening, their films playing on a giant screen in a hotel ballroom. Screening the films at dinner in front of the whole group is the favourite moment of the workshop.

Production in the meeting room by day, screening on the big screen in the ballroom by night.

How do you make a video with AI? The workshop flow

  1. Brief: each team gets a topic; it can be the company's story, a new product, a value or a vision of the future.
  2. Script: the team splits the story into a few scenes and decides what each scene should say.
  3. Prompt writing: for each scene, the team describes what the AI should generate; details such as light, angle, colour and mood shape the result.
  4. Production: scenes are created with text-to-video or image-to-video tools and supported by AI voice-over and music.
  5. Editing: scenes are joined and titles and a closing card are added.
  6. Screening: the films are shown on a big screen and awards are given by a jury or by audience vote.

How is it different from a short film workshop?

In a classic short film workshop such as our Videostar Film Workshop, teams put on costumes and step in front of the camera; the energy comes from acting and the set. In an AI film workshop nobody has to be on camera. That is a big advantage for camera-shy teams, large international groups and programmes that stay inside the office. The skill gained is different too: participants practise writing prompts and creating with AI, which they will also use at work.

The titles on screen in the video are in English; the workshop runs with the same flow for international groups that share a different common language.

How many people and how long does it take?

Teams usually have four to eight people, and each team gets a computer with the tools already set up. Half a day is ideal for production; placing the screening at dinner or the closing session turns it into an awards ceremony. For teams that want to work with visuals only, AI Poster is a shorter alternative built on the same idea.

What does the cost depend on?

The budget depends on the number of participants and teams, programme length, licences for the tools used, the size of the trainer and technical support team, sound and screen infrastructure for the screening, the city and any brand-specific theme preparation.
